Stamped Rich Snippets: How to Remove Them From Your Shopify Theme
Last Updated on October 14, 2026 by Corey Fox
Stamped rich snippets are a block of Product schema with your star rating that was added to your Shopify theme files when Stamped was installed. Your theme usually outputs its own Product schema as well, so Google sees the product twice. Unlike Judge.me, Okendo, or Loox, there’s no toggle to turn Stamped’s version off. You remove it from the theme code by hand, carefully, because the reviews widget lives in the same files.
How to check if you have duplicate Product schema
- Test a product URL with Stamped reviews in Google’s Rich Results Test.
- Open Product snippets. Two items means two Product blocks.
- Expand both. The one carrying the AggregateRating is very likely Stamped’s.
The free Shopify Schema Conflict Checker does it in one pass and attributes each block. Because Stamped’s markup sits in your theme, it’s worth checking a collection page and your homepage too, in case the block was pasted somewhere it shouldn’t be.
Step 1: Make sure your theme can still read the rating
Stamped only writes your rating to Shopify’s standard review fields if its support team turns that on. Email [email protected] and ask for Shopify standard review metafields sync. Once it’s on, the Product rating and Product rating count metafields on your products will show values, and your theme’s schema can read them.
If you’d rather not wait, Stamped also keeps the average and count in its own metafields, which your schema can read directly instead.
Step 2: Remove Stamped’s schema from your theme
- In Shopify, go to Online Store > Themes and duplicate your live theme. Do everything on the copy.
- On the copy, click Edit code.
- Search the theme files for
stamped, then forld+json. You’re looking for a<script type="application/ld+json">block that contains Stamped’s rating values. - Delete that whole script block, from the opening tag to the closing tag. Leave every other Stamped line alone, especially the widget code that shows reviews on the page.
- Preview a product with reviews. The widget should look exactly the same. Then run the Rich Results Test on the preview and confirm one Product item remains.
If you find more than one Stamped JSON-LD block, for example one in a product template and one in a snippet, remove each of them. Then publish the copy.
If your theme’s schema doesn’t include the rating
With Stamped’s block gone, the stars only stay if your theme’s Product schema includes the rating, and most themes leave it out. The Shopify Schema Kit gives you a single Product block with the rating built in, shown only on products with reviews. It reads Shopify’s standard fields once Stamped syncs them, or Stamped’s own fields with a one-line change. $39, copy-paste snippets and a guide.
