“Review Has Multiple Aggregate Ratings” on Shopify: What It Means and the Fix
Last Updated on October 14, 2026 by Corey Fox
“Review has multiple aggregate ratings” means Google found more than one rating attached to the same product on the page. Google only accepts one, so it flags the item and won’t show review stars for it. On Shopify, it’s almost always two sources marking up the same rating: your theme and your review app, or two apps at once.
Where the second rating comes from
- Your review app’s rich snippets. Judge.me, Yotpo, Okendo, Loox and Stamped can all add their own rating markup to product pages.
- Your theme. Some themes, or a developer before you, added a rating to the theme’s Product schema or wrapped the review widget in microdata.
- An SEO or schema app. Apps that “add rich snippets” often include the rating too, on top of everything else.
- Leftover code. Review apps you uninstalled sometimes leave snippets in the theme that still print a rating.
How to find both sources
- In Search Console, open the error and copy one of the affected product URLs.
- Paste it into the free Shopify Schema Conflict Checker. It lists every rating on the page and names the theme or app that added each one.
- Or do it by hand: view the page source and search for
aggregateRatingandratingValue. Count how many times each appears and check the surrounding code for an app name.
The fix: keep one rating
Pick one source and turn the others off. The cleanest setup is one Product block from your theme with the rating included, and every app’s rich snippets switched off:
- Judge.me: Settings > Google, SEO and AI > SEO Rich Snippets, then refresh existing products. The old markup stays until you do.
- Yotpo: no toggle. Turn on Shopify Metafields Sync and ask their support to disable rich snippets.
- Okendo: Reviews > Settings > Widget > untick Include SEO Rich Snippets.
- Loox: the SEO Rich Snippets toggle in the Loox admin.
- Stamped: the markup was pasted into your theme. Search your theme files for “stamped” and remove the rating markup, not the widget.
Then make sure your theme’s Product schema actually includes the rating, or the stars disappear with the duplicate. The Shopify Schema Kit gives you one clean Product block that reads the rating from Shopify’s review fields, with setup steps for all five apps above.
Confirm it’s fixed
Run the product URL through Google’s Rich Results Test. You want one Product item with one rating and no errors. Then go back to the error in Search Console and click Validate fix. Google rechecks the affected pages over the next couple of weeks.
