SEO migration services
SEO migration services for brands moving to Shopify
A platform migration is the fastest way to lose organic traffic you spent years earning. Every URL changes, and the rankings only follow if each old page is mapped to the right new one. I handle the SEO side of your move to Shopify, working alongside your developer or agency, so your traffic and revenue make the trip with you.
- Full URL inventory and a page-by-page redirect map before launch
- Titles, metadata, schema and internal links carried over, not rebuilt from scratch
- 90 days of post-launch monitoring against your pre-migration baseline
Free 20-minute review of your current site and migration plan. You leave with the biggest risks named, whether we work together or not.
Where migrations go wrong
Why traffic drops after a replatform
- Every URL changes. Shopify uses fixed paths like /products/, /collections/ and /pages/. Your old category and product URLs almost never match, so each one needs a redirect to its closest new page.
- Redirects get mapped in bulk, not page by page. Sending hundreds of old pages to the homepage or a top-level collection throws away the relevance those pages built.
- Metadata and copy get lost. Titles, descriptions, category copy and image alt text often don’t make it through the product import.
- Schema and reviews break. A new theme plus a new review app often means duplicate Product markup, or ratings that disappear from search.
- Nobody watches after launch. 404s, redirect chains and indexing problems show up in Search Console weeks later, after the traffic is already gone.
How it works
The migration, in three stages
Before launch
- Crawl the current site and pull Search Console, GA4 and backlink data, so every URL that earns traffic, revenue or links is on the list
- Build the redirect map: each old URL to its closest new page, ready to import into Shopify’s URL redirects
- Specify the new collection structure, templates, metadata and Product schema so nothing important gets dropped
- Record a baseline of rankings, traffic and organic revenue to measure against
Launch week
- Check redirects, canonicals, robots rules and sitemaps on the live store
- Submit the new sitemap and verify the domain in Search Console
- Spot-check top pages for schema, titles and internal links
90 days after
- Weekly checks for 404s, redirect chains and indexing issues, fixed as they appear
- Rankings, traffic and organic revenue compared against the baseline, with a short written update
Moving from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix or a custom build all follow the same process. So do Shopify-to-Shopify moves like store merges, domain changes and new expansion stores. I handle the SEO; your developer or agency handles the build.

FAQs
Questions about SEO migrations
When should SEO get involved in a migration?
Before the new URL structure and collections are final. Ideally a month or more before launch, so the redirect map and templates are ready when the developer needs them.
Do you build the Shopify store too?
No. I handle the SEO side and work alongside whoever does the build: your in-house developer, your agency or a migration partner. Agencies can bring me in white-label through the agency partner program.
Will we lose traffic during the migration?
Some movement is normal while Google recrawls the new URLs. Lasting drops almost always trace back to missing or wrong redirects, lost content, or indexing problems. Those are the things this process is built to prevent.
We already migrated and traffic dropped. Can you help?
Yes. Start with the Shopify SEO Audit. It finds the missing redirects, 404s and indexing problems. The sooner you fix them, the more of the old rankings you can recover.
