Best Rank Tracking Software: 10 Tools Compared for 2026

Best Rank Tracking Software (2026)

Last Updated on October 28, 2026 by Corey Fox

For most SEOs and ecommerce brands, SE Ranking is the best rank tracking software in 2026: daily tracking for 2,000 keywords on the entry plan, AI Overview and AI Mode coverage, and a no-card trial. If you already pay for an all-in-one suite, Semrush Position Tracking is the default pick. For very large keyword sets tracked daily, AccuRanker or Advanced Web Ranking is the better fit.

I’m a technical SEO who works mostly with Shopify and DTC brands. Every price and limit below comes from the vendor’s own site, checked in October 2026.

Quick picks

  • SE Ranking: best overall value, with daily tracking and AI search add-ons
  • Semrush Position Tracking: best if you want rank tracking inside a full SEO suite
  • AccuRanker: best dedicated daily tracker for large keyword sets
  • Nightwatch: best for tracking Google rankings and LLM answers on one plan
  • Advanced Web Ranking: best for agencies with big volumes and white-label reports
  • Ahrefs Rank Tracker: best if you already use Ahrefs and weekly data is enough
  • SERPWatch: best budget pick for flexible update frequency
  • SerpRobot: best for very small keyword lists on a tiny budget

How I picked these

These are the criteria I care about when a Shopify or DTC brand asks me what to track rankings with:

  • Daily updates at the entry plan. Ecommerce rankings move with promos, stock changes and Google updates. Weekly data hides a lot.
  • Keyword volume for the money. A store with a few hundred collection and product pages needs room for 500 to 2,000 keywords without jumping to an enterprise tier.
  • AI Overview and AI Mode visibility. More informational and comparison queries now show an AI Overview above the organic results. I want to know when one appears and whether the brand is cited.
  • Local and mobile tracking. Most DTC traffic is mobile, and brands with retail or service areas need city or ZIP level data.
  • Honest limits. I gave weight to tools that publish their keyword limits and update rules clearly.

One gap worth naming: none of the pages I checked advertise tracking of the Google Shopping tab itself. For product listing visibility, Merchant Center and Search Console’s Shopping reports are still where I look.

1. SE Ranking: best overall value

SE Ranking is the tool I’d point most stores and small agencies to first. The entry Core plan includes daily tracking for 2,000 keywords, and the rank tracker covers Google, Bing, Yahoo and YouTube, with separate desktop and mobile data and local tracking down to city, region or ZIP code. It also tracks presence in 35+ Google SERP elements, AI Overviews included, and AI platforms such as AI Mode, ChatGPT and Gemini.

Key features

  • Daily position checks across the top 100 results (rank tracker page)
  • Desktop and mobile tracked separately, plus city, region and ZIP code tracking
  • AI Overviews among 35+ tracked SERP elements
  • Core and Growth plans track 5 LLMs with daily GEO prompts (100 on Core)
  • Optional AI Search add-on covering AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini and ChatGPT

Pricing: Core $129/mo ($103.20/mo billed annually) with 2,000 daily keywords. Growth $279/mo with 5,000. AI Search add-on $89/mo. 14-day trial, no credit card. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • 2,000 daily keywords at the entry price is strong value
  • AI search tracking available without switching tools

Cons

  • The AI Search add-on is an extra $89/mo on top of the plan
  • More platform than you need if all you want is rank checks

Best for: Shopify brands and small agencies that want daily rankings plus AI Overview data in one place.

2. Semrush Position Tracking: best inside a full SEO suite

Semrush Position Tracking makes sense if you’re already using Semrush for keyword research, audits and competitor work. It updates daily, tracks across devices and locations, and flags when your keywords trigger SERP features like featured snippets, local packs and AI Overviews, and whether you appear in them. Semrush also added Google’s AI Mode as a selectable engine, in beta for Guru and Business plans.

Key features

  • Daily ranking updates with device and location targeting
  • SERP feature tracking, including AI Overviews and local packs
  • AI Mode tracking in beta: 50 keywords per account, US only, desktop only (announcement)
  • Up to 20 competitors side by side
  • Automated email reports and white-label reporting

Pricing: Pro from $139.95/mo (500 keywords), Guru $249.95/mo (1,500), Business $499.95/mo (5,000), per Semrush’s own Dec 2025 roundup. 7-day free trial. Semrush’s pricing page blocked my fetch, so confirm current numbers there before you buy (as of Oct 2026).

Pros

  • Rank data sits next to keyword research, audits and competitor data
  • AI Overview presence is flagged per keyword

Cons

  • 500 keywords on Pro is tight for a store with many collections
  • AI Mode tracking is limited (beta, 50 keywords, Guru and up)

Best for: Teams that already live in Semrush and want rank tracking without another login.

3. AccuRanker: best for high-volume daily tracking

AccuRanker is a dedicated rank tracker built around daily updates at scale. If you’re tracking thousands of keywords across many SKUs or markets and need the data fast and clean, it’s one of the strongest options. Its AccuLLM product covers AI search visibility, and the homepage lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode among the platforms it monitors.

Key features

  • Daily keyword updates on all plans
  • Tagging, dynamic tagging and advanced filtering for large keyword sets
  • Google Search Console and Google Analytics integrations
  • AccuLLM for prompt visibility, sentiment and cited sources
  • Enterprise adds BigQuery, raw SERP HTML and unlimited write API

Pricing: Professional €224/mo (2,000 to 5,000 keywords). Expert €764/mo (10,000 to 25,000 keywords). Enterprise custom. 10% off annual. No free trial listed; demos available. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • Built for bulk SERP tracking at daily frequency
  • Strong tagging for organizing product and collection keywords
  • Clear path to BigQuery and API for data teams

Cons

  • Expensive compared with SE Ranking at similar keyword counts
  • No self-serve trial listed on the pricing page
  • AccuLLM plan inclusion isn’t spelled out on the pricing page

Best for: Larger ecommerce brands and in-house teams tracking thousands of keywords daily.

4. Nightwatch: best for rankings plus LLM visibility on one plan

Nightwatch bundles daily rank tracking and AI answer tracking into every plan instead of selling AI as an add-on. All plans cover ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode and AI Overview, with limits set by prompts and AI answers per month. Location coverage is wide (107,000+ locations in 190+ countries), and Google Maps is a supported engine.

Key features

  • Daily keyword tracking with on-demand real-time checks on every plan
  • AI tracking across six AI surfaces, including AI Overview and AI Mode
  • 107,000+ locations, plus Google Maps tracking
  • Search Simulator to view results from any device
  • Site audit and keyword research included

Pricing: Starter €79/mo (500 daily keywords, 50 AI prompts). Professional €159/mo (2,500 keywords, 150 prompts). Agency €399/mo (7,500 keywords). About 20% off yearly. 14-day trial, no card. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • AI Overview and LLM tracking included, not extra
  • On-demand checks on every plan
  • Low entry price for 500 daily keywords

Cons

  • Priced in euros, which matters for US budgeting
  • 500 keywords on Starter may run out fast for large catalogs

Best for: DTC brands that want to watch Google rankings and AI answers for the same topics without paying for two tools.

5. Advanced Web Ranking: best for agencies

Advanced Web Ranking (AWR) uses keyword units instead of flat keyword counts, which gives agencies control over frequency, depth and devices. It tracks how brands appear in AI Mode and AI Overviews across 170+ countries, reports an AIO Citation Rank, and covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. White-label reports can be emailed on a schedule or shared as live permalinks.

Key features

  • Daily, weekly or on-demand tracking for any engine, location and device
  • AI Overview and AI Mode visibility plus AIO Citation Rank
  • LLM visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude
  • White-label reports with live permalinks

Pricing: Pro $139/mo (7,000 keyword units), Agency $279/mo (14,500), Enterprise $699/mo (35,500). One unit is one weekly query at 50-result depth; daily tracking uses 7x the units, so 7,000 units is about 1,000 keywords tracked daily. Free trial and 30-day money-back guarantee. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • Unlimited projects and users on all plans
  • AI Overview citation tracking is more specific than most
  • Mix weekly and daily tracking to stretch your units

Cons

  • The unit math takes time to understand
  • Daily tracking burns units 7x faster, so the headline numbers are weekly numbers

Best for: Agencies running many client projects with mixed tracking needs.

6. Ahrefs Rank Tracker: best for existing Ahrefs users

Ahrefs Rank Tracker is a solid choice if you already pay for Ahrefs for backlinks and keyword research. It tracks mobile and desktop rankings across 190+ locations down to city or ZIP, and monitors 19 SERP feature types, AI Overviews included. The main limit is update frequency: rankings update weekly on every plan.

Key features

  • Mobile and desktop tracking, city and ZIP level
  • 19 SERP feature types tracked, including AI Overviews
  • Up to 10 competitors compared
  • Brand Radar AI add-on for LLM brand visibility
  • Rank data alongside Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer

Pricing: Lite $129/mo (750 tracked keywords), Standard $249/mo (2,000), Advanced $449/mo (5,000), Enterprise $1,499/mo. All weekly updates. Brand Radar AI from $199/mo. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • AI Overview tracking included in SERP features
  • No extra tool if you already use Ahrefs

Cons

  • Weekly updates only, so it’s not a daily rank tracker
  • Fewer keywords per dollar than dedicated trackers

Best for: Ahrefs subscribers who need trend data, not day-to-day movement.

7. Wincher: best for small teams wanting daily data

Wincher is a simpler rank tracker focused on daily Google rankings on desktop and mobile across 190+ locations, down to city level. Higher tiers add on-demand updates and unlimited websites. It also includes landing page tracking, competitor comparisons and a WordPress integration.

Key features

  • Daily ranking updates, with on-demand updates on the mid and agency tiers
  • Desktop and mobile tracking, city level, 190+ locations
  • Local rank tracking with weekly updates and included credits
  • Competitor ranking comparisons and 24 months of data retention

Pricing: Plans start from 500 keywords for small teams, 1,000 for growing teams and 5,000 for agencies. Exact prices didn’t load in the page content I could read, so check the live pricing page (as of Oct 2026). Free trial available.

Pros

  • Simple interface for people who just want rankings
  • Daily updates at the entry tier

Cons

  • No AI Overview or LLM tracking described on its pages
  • On-demand updates not included on the smallest plan

Best for: Small brands or freelancers who want a clean daily rank tracker without a full suite.

8. SERPWatch: best budget pick for flexible frequency

SERPWatch is a low-cost SERP tracker priced by keyword checks per month. The Growth and Premium plans let you set update frequency from hourly to weekly or monthly, which is useful during migrations or after a site change when you want to watch movement closely.

Key features

  • Daily tracking on Starter, hourly to weekly on Growth
  • SERP screenshots and SERP feature charts
  • Google algorithm update markers on charts
  • Check-based pricing you can spread across keywords and frequency

Pricing: Starter $49/mo (250 keywords checked daily), Growth $99/mo (750 daily), Premium $349/mo (2,500 daily). Annual billing advertises 5 months free. 14-day money-back guarantee, no trial listed. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • Cheap entry point for daily tracking
  • Hourly checks for migration monitoring

Cons

  • No AI Overview tracking mentioned
  • 250 daily keywords on Starter is small for a store

Best for: Budget-conscious sites and short-term migration monitoring.

9. AgencyAnalytics: best for client reporting

AgencyAnalytics is a reporting platform first and a rank tracker second. Rank tracking is a paid add-on that covers desktop, mobile, local and international rankings, and the data feeds into white-label client dashboards. An AI Tracker add-on monitors brand visibility, sentiment and citations across AI engines.

Key features

  • Rank Tracker add-on: desktop, mobile, local and international
  • White-label dashboards and reports
  • AI Tracker add-on for AI engine visibility
  • MCP access for ChatGPT and Claude on the core plan

Pricing: Core $20 per client per month billed annually. Rank Tracker add-on $41.67/mo for 500 keywords (annual). AI Tracker $20.83/mo for 250 credits (annual). 14-day trial, no card. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • Rankings show up next to GA4, ads and other client data
  • Per-client pricing scales with an agency roster

Cons

  • Rank tracking costs extra on top of the per-client fee
  • Update frequency isn’t stated on the pricing page
  • Google AI Overviews aren’t named specifically

Best for: Agencies that care more about client-facing reports than deep rank analysis.

10. SerpRobot: best for tiny keyword lists

SerpRobot is the cheapest way I found to automate rank checks for a short list. You buy “bots” at $4.99/mo each, and each bot covers 75 keywords per 24 hours. It supports Google, Bing, Yahoo and YouTube, and desktop, mobile and tablet results from any location.

Key features

  • Pay per bot: 75 keywords per 24 hours each
  • Desktop, mobile and tablet results from any location
  • Google, Bing, Yahoo, YouTube and Google Business Profile rankings
  • Free on-demand SERP checker

Pricing: $4.99/mo per bot, monthly or yearly. 14-day trial, no payment. (pricing, as of Oct 2026)

Pros

  • Very low cost for small lists
  • Simple to start

Cons

  • No AI Overview tracking mentioned
  • Costs add up past a few hundred keywords

Best for: Small local businesses or side projects watching under 200 keywords.

Free option for one-off checks

Disclosure: these are my own tools.

These aren’t rank trackers, and I’m not ranking them against the tools above. They’re for when you need a quick live look at one keyword before committing to a subscription, or to sanity-check what a tracker reports.

  • Google SERP Checker: shows the live top 100 Google organic results for a keyword, by country (18 options), language and desktop or mobile, with tags for SERP features like AI Overviews and People Also Ask. CSV export, no signup. It’s a snapshot, not ongoing tracking.
  • AI Overview & SERP Feature Checker: tells you whether a keyword shows an AI Overview and which sources Google cites, plus the featured snippet, People Also Ask and related searches. Free, no account.

Both pull live data from the DataForSEO API and cache identical checks for up to 6 hours. If you want to know what losing AI Overview visibility might be costing a store, the AI Overviews Revenue Leak Diagnostic is the next step.

How to choose

  • Count your real keyword list first. For a Shopify store, list your top collections, best-selling products and a few comparison queries. Most stores land between 300 and 1,500 keywords.
  • Pay for daily only where it matters. Daily tracking is worth it for money keywords. Informational keywords can run weekly if your tool allows mixed frequency (AWR does).
  • Track mobile separately. Most DTC traffic is mobile, and mobile rankings often differ. SE Ranking, Ahrefs and Wincher all track devices separately.
  • Decide how much AI visibility data you need. If you just want to know when an AI Overview shows up, SERP feature tracking (Semrush, Ahrefs, SE Ranking) is enough. If you want prompt-level LLM tracking, look at Nightwatch, AWR or SE Ranking’s add-on.
  • Fix before you track. Rank tracking tells you what moved, not why. If rankings are stuck, a Shopify SEO audit usually finds the duplicate collection URLs, thin product pages or schema issues holding them back.

FAQ

What is the best rank tracking software in 2026?

SE Ranking is the best overall pick for most sites, with 2,000 daily keywords on its $129/mo Core plan and AI Overview tracking. AccuRanker and Advanced Web Ranking are better for very large keyword sets.

Which rank trackers track Google AI Overviews?

SE Ranking, Semrush, Ahrefs, Nightwatch, Advanced Web Ranking and AccuRanker (through AccuLLM) all document AI Overview tracking. Nightwatch, AWR, SE Ranking and Semrush (beta) also cover Google AI Mode.

Do I need a daily rank tracker?

For ecommerce, yes for your revenue keywords, because promos, stock and Google updates move rankings fast. Ahrefs updates weekly, so it suits trend reporting more than daily monitoring.

What is the cheapest rank tracker?

SerpRobot starts at $4.99/mo for 75 keywords per day. SERPWatch starts at $49/mo for 250 daily keywords.

Can a rank tracker track Google Shopping results?

None of the vendor pages I checked in October 2026 advertise tracking of the Google Shopping tab. Use Google Merchant Center and Search Console’s Shopping reports for product listing visibility.

How this list is maintained

I checked each vendor’s own pricing and feature pages in October 2026 and will update this page as plans change. Semrush figures come from Semrush’s own published roundup because its pricing page blocked my check. Moz Pro and Mangools SERPWatcher are left out of this version because I couldn’t verify their current pricing. My own free tools are included and labeled, not ranked against paid trackers. No paid placements. If you want help setting up tracking that maps to revenue, that’s part of my Shopify SEO services.
