Best Shopify SEO Apps (2026)
Last Updated on October 28, 2026 by Corey Fox
The best Shopify SEO app depends on the job. For an all-in-one suite, SEO Manager and Avada are the safest starting points (Avada has a real free plan). For structured data, Ilana’s JSON-LD for SEO is the one I’d look at first. For image speed, TinyIMG. For 404s and redirects, SC Easy URL Redirects. Most stores need one suite plus, at most, one specialist app, not five apps doing the same thing.
Quick picks
- SEO Manager: best all-in-one for stores that want meta, redirects, and 404 tracking in one place
- Avada AI SEO Image Optimizer: best free all-in-one plan
- SearchPie: best for schema plus speed in one app
- Smart SEO: best low-cost suite with Search Console integration
- Plug in SEO: best for audits and finding what’s broken
- Ilana’s JSON-LD for SEO: best dedicated structured data app
- Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer (TinyIMG): best for image compression and speed
- 404/301 SC Easy URL Redirects: best for 404 and redirect management

How I picked these
I work on technical SEO for Shopify and DTC stores, and most of the problems I find come from apps, not from a lack of them. So I picked based on what actually matters on a live store:
- Does it fix something Shopify doesn’t already do? Shopify handles canonical tags, a basic XML sitemap, and editable meta fields out of the box. An app has to add real value on top.
- Structured data behavior. Most Shopify themes already output Product schema. An app that adds a second Product block without removing or merging the first can create duplicate or conflicting markup.
- Page weight. Apps that inject scripts on the storefront add requests. Image and speed apps should make pages lighter, not heavier.
- Clean uninstall. Some apps edit theme files. Leftover code after uninstall is common enough that I check for it on every audit.
1. SEO Manager: best all-in-one for meta, redirects, and 404s
SEO Manager by venntov is one of the long-running general SEO apps on Shopify. It covers the basics most stores want in one admin: meta tag control, redirects, 404 tracking, JSON-LD, and an SEO score.
Key features
- Meta tag control, with advanced controls on the Essential plan
- Redirects, plus out-of-stock redirects on Essential
- Missing page and broken link tracking from the Starter plan
- JSON-LD, schemas, and rich snippet tools
Pricing: Starter $9/month, Essential $29/month, Professional $59/month, each with a 7-day free trial. No free plan. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Low entry price for redirects and 404 tracking
- 4.7 from 491 reviews
Cons
- No free plan
- Its JSON-LD can overlap with your theme’s Product schema. Check for duplicates after you turn it on.
- The best automation sits on the $29 and $59 tiers
Best for: Small to mid-size stores that want one dependable suite for meta, redirects, and broken links.
2. Avada AI SEO Image Optimizer: best free all-in-one plan
Avada AI SEO Image Optimizer by Avada SEO Suite has the largest review count of any app on this list, 4,683 reviews at a 4.9 rating.
Key features
- Free plan with 100 image optimizations, meta tags, HTML sitemap, and basic Google structured data
- Pro adds unlimited image optimization, broken link manager, URL optimization, XML sitemap generator, and robots.txt editor
- Speed booster tiers (basic, turbo, rocket)
- AI alt text and AI credits for content
Pricing: Free, Pro $34.95/month ($348/year), Enterprise $99/month ($990/year). 7-day free trial on paid plans. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Real free plan
- Covers images, meta, sitemap, and schema in one install
Cons
- “Speed booster” features change how assets load. Test before and after in PageSpeed Insights rather than assuming a gain.
- Structured data on top of theme schema is a common source of duplicate Product markup
- Robots.txt editing is powerful. A bad rule can block pages you want indexed.
Best for: New or budget-conscious stores that want broad coverage without a monthly bill.
3. SearchPie: best for schema and speed in one app
SearchPie by PieLab combines structured data, speed work, and technical fixes. It adds Product, FAQ, and breadcrumb JSON-LD, detects 404s, manages the sitemap, and compresses images. It has a free Starter plan and 2,453 reviews at 4.9.
Key features
- Product, FAQ, and breadcrumb JSON-LD
- IndexNow, 404 detection, and sitemap management
- Image compression, CSS minification, and lazy loading
- AI SEO and alt tags, bulk meta tags, and an llms.txt file
Pricing: Starter free, Premium $39/month ($374.40/year), Enterprise $99/month ($950.40/year). 7-day free trial on paid plans. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Free plan
- Schema and speed in one app means fewer installs
Cons
- Doing schema and speed in one app means a lot of theme-level changes from a single vendor
- If your theme and review app already output Product schema, you have to confirm which source wins
Best for: Stores that want one app to handle rich results markup and speed basics.
4. Smart SEO AI & Image Optimizer: best low-cost suite
Smart SEO AI & Image Optimizer by Sherpas Design is a well-rated suite (5.0 from 960 reviews) with a free plan and a cheap first paid tier. The Pro plan is where it gets interesting: Google Search Console integration, JSON-LD, IndexNow, and 404 hit detection for $14.99/month.
Key features
- Free plan with meta and alt tag optimization, sitemap, noindex tags, and a 20-page audit
- Pro adds GSC integration, JSON-LD, IndexNow, bulk meta and alt edits, and 404 hit detection
- Business adds image filename optimization, a 500-page audit, and multi-language support
Pricing: Free, Pro $14.99/month, Business $24.99/month, Premium $49.99/month (annual options available). 7-day free trial on paid plans. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Low-cost path to JSON-LD and Search Console data inside the app
- Free plan for basic meta work
Cons
- JSON-LD is not on the free plan
- The listing shows a compatibility notice, so check it supports your store before installing
- As with any suite, verify its schema doesn’t stack on your theme’s
Best for: Small stores that want a capable suite under $25/month.
5. Plug in SEO: best for audits and finding what’s broken
Plug in SEO by Plug in Useful is built around scanning your store for SEO problems and helping you fix them. It checks for missing tags and broken schema, fixes broken links with redirects, and adds keyword research and AI copywriting. It’s rated 4.6 from 674 reviews.
Key features
- SEO scanner for missing tags and broken schema
- Broken link fixer with one-click redirects
- Keyword Studio for AI keyword research
- AI copywriting for product titles and descriptions (you approve changes)
Pricing: Lite $29.99/month, Standard $49.99/month, Premium $79.99/month. 7-day free trial on each. No free plan. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Audit-first approach is useful for stores that don’t know where to start
- Flags broken schema, which many suites skip
Cons
- Highest entry price of the suites here
- Automated audits flag issues by rule. They can’t tell you which fixes matter most for revenue.
- AI-written product copy still needs a human edit
Best for: Store owners who want a recurring checklist of what’s broken.
If you’d rather have a person do this once and rank the fixes by impact, that’s what my Shopify SEO Audit is for. Disclosure: that’s my own service.
6. Ilana’s JSON-LD for SEO: best dedicated structured data app
Ilana’s JSON-LD for SEO by Ilana Davis LLC is a structured data app, nothing else. It covers products, reviews, blogs, breadcrumbs, homepage, FAQs, video, and more. It integrates with 20+ review apps, including Judge.me, Klaviyo Reviews, and Stamped.io, which is exactly where most duplicate rating markup comes from. Rated 4.9 from 440 reviews.
Key features
- Product, review, blog, breadcrumb, homepage, loyalty, recipe, FAQ, and video schema
- 20+ review app integrations
- Schema auto-updates when you swap or edit your theme, per the listing
- Merchant Center schema fields, with or without a feed
Pricing: Annual Pro, $399/year, with a 7-day free trial. No monthly plan or free plan listed. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Specialist tool with deep review app coverage
- Handles theme changes, which is when schema usually breaks
- Includes an audit and ongoing monitoring
Cons
- Annual-only pricing is a bigger upfront cost
- If you also run a suite with JSON-LD turned on, you’ll have two sources. Turn one off.
- More than a very small store with one product type needs
Best for: Established stores where rich results (price, stock, stars) matter and you want a specialist owning schema.
7. Schema Plus: best tiered structured data app
Schema Plus by SchemaPlus Inc is another schema specialist, priced by how many product and review schemas you need. It says it fixes missing, incorrect, or conflicting schema and works with Judge.me, Yotpo, Stamped.io, and Okendo. Rated 5.0 from 592 reviews.
Key features
- JSON-LD for Product, Review, FAQ, Video, Recipe, and more
- Fixes for conflicting schema and related Search Console errors
- Review app compatibility (Judge.me, Yotpo, Stamped.io, Okendo)
- Organization, blog, collection, and breadcrumb schema on Essential
Pricing: Lite $10.99/month (up to 5 product and review schemas), Essential $20.99/month (up to 250), Premium $34.99/month (unlimited). Yearly options available. 14-day free trial. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Monthly pricing, cheaper to start than an annual plan
- Explicitly targets conflicting schema
Cons
- The Lite plan’s 5-schema cap won’t cover most real catalogs
- Shipping and return policy schema is only on the top tier
Best for: Stores that want a schema specialist on monthly billing.
8. Shopify Schema Kit: best for fixing schema in your theme without an app
Disclosure: this is my own tool.
The Shopify Schema Kit is not an app. It’s a set of Liquid snippets and install guides you add to your theme yourself. It exists because of the problem I see most on Shopify audits: the theme outputs Product schema, then a review app like Judge.me, Yotpo, or Okendo adds a second Product block to attach star ratings. You end up with the same product described twice, sometimes with different prices, or a rating with no reviews behind it. The Kit’s approach is to attach the review app’s rating to one Product block and turn off the duplicate.
Key features
- Liquid snippets for Product (with Offer and AggregateRating), Organization, Breadcrumb, and Article
- Install guides for Judge.me, Yotpo, Okendo, Loox, and Stamped
- Theme cleanup guide for default schema in Dawn and Dawn-based themes
- Validation checklist using Google’s Rich Results Test and my free Schema Conflict Checker
- Every change is made in a duplicate theme first, so you can preview before publishing
Pricing: Solo $39 one-time ($49 after November 14, 2026). Agency $199 for unlimited client stores. 14-day refund if it doesn’t work for your store. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- One-time cost, no monthly fee
- No app scripts. The markup lives in your theme.
- Built specifically around theme plus review app conflicts
Cons
- You’re editing theme code. If you’ve never opened a Liquid file, a managed app is easier.
- Only five review apps have dedicated guides
- No ongoing monitoring. You re-check after theme updates yourself.
Best for: Stores comfortable with a little theme editing that want one clean Product block and no extra app.
9. Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer (TinyIMG): best for image speed
Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer, from TinySEO (formerly TinyIMG), is primarily an image compression and speed app. It has a free plan, a 5.0 rating from 2,571 reviews, and adds lazy loading, preloading, and minification on paid tiers.
Key features
- Image compression (50 per month on the free plan, up to 15,000 on Expert)
- Lazy loading and asset preloading from Beginner
- CSS and JavaScript minification on Advanced
- JSON-LD for return policy and shipping details from Beginner; extended JSON-LD on Expert
Pricing: Free, Beginner $14/month, Advanced $23/month, Expert $49/month (annual options available). 7-day free trial on paid plans. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Free plan for small catalogs
- Image weight is often the easiest speed win on a Shopify store
Cons
- Minification and preloading can conflict with other apps’ scripts. Test key templates after turning them on.
- The JSON-LD features overlap with schema apps. Pick one owner.
- Monthly image caps mean big catalogs need a higher tier
Best for: Image-heavy stores (apparel, home, beauty) where photos are the main page weight.
A lighter alternative if you only want compression and file renaming: Crush: Speed & Image Optimizer by Space Squirrel Ltd. (4.8 from 471 reviews), with a free plan and paid plans from $4.99/month as of October 2026.
10. 404/301 SC Easy URL Redirects: best for 404s and redirects
404/301 SC Easy URL Redirects by Shop Circle does one job: catch broken URLs and send them somewhere useful. The free plan covers bulk redirects. Pro adds automatic 404 detection and alerts. Rated 4.7 from 297 reviews.
Key features
- Bulk redirects for broken 404 pages (free)
- Automatic 404 detection and new-404 alerts (Pro)
- Redirect patterns to automate redirects (Pro)
- AI Redirects that suggest a best-match page with a confidence score (Pro+)
Pricing: Free, Pro $14.99/month ($149/year), Pro+ $39.99/month ($399/year). 7-day free trial on paid plans. Pricing as of October 2026.
Pros
- Single-purpose, so it doesn’t touch your schema or theme output
- Free plan handles bulk redirects
- Alerts catch new 404s before they pile up
Cons
- Shopify’s built-in URL redirects already cover simple one-off cases
- Automatic or AI-matched redirects still need review. A bad match sends users and link equity to the wrong page.
- Redirecting active pages is a Pro+ feature
Best for: Stores that just migrated, restructured collections, or remove products often.
Also considered
- Yoast SEO for Shopify: SEO and readability analysis, structured data, and llms.txt. $19/month (Premium) or $45/month (AI+), 14-day trial, 4.3 from 175 reviews as of October 2026. A familiar name if you came from WordPress, but the rating trails the others here, and several reviews mention theme changes made by the app.
- SEO King by Engage Apps: free plan plus paid plans from $9.99/month, 4.7 from 541 reviews. Some AI features use a separate in-app credit balance, per a developer reply in the reviews.
- Booster SEO & Image Optimizer: left out. Its App Store page currently says it is not available on the Shopify App Store.
How to choose
- Start with what Shopify already does. Canonicals, a basic sitemap, and meta fields are built in. Don’t pay an app to do those alone.
- Pick one owner for structured data. Your theme, your review app, a suite, and a schema app can all output Product JSON-LD. Choose one source and turn the rest off. Run a product page through my free Shopify Schema Conflict Checker to see how many Product blocks you have and which theme or app produced each.
- Measure page weight before and after. Run PageSpeed Insights on a product page, install the app, then run it again. Any app that adds storefront scripts should earn its place.
- Avoid overlapping suites. Two all-in-one apps means two sets of meta rules, two schema outputs, and twice the theme edits. One suite plus a specialist is the most I’d run.
- Check for leftover code when you uninstall. Look in your theme’s snippets and layout files for app code that stayed behind. If it’s a mess, my Fix Sprint is a fixed-scope cleanup (disclosure: my own service).
- Use apps for repeat tasks, people for judgment. Apps are good at bulk alt text and 404 alerts. They won’t tell you which collection pages to consolidate or why product pages lost rich results.
FAQ
What is the best Shopify SEO app?
For most stores, SEO Manager is the best paid all-in-one and Avada is the best free one. If structured data is your main problem, a dedicated schema app like Ilana’s JSON-LD for SEO is a better fit than a suite.
Do I need an SEO app on Shopify?
Not always. Shopify handles canonical tags, sitemaps, and meta fields natively, so an app is worth it when you need redirects at scale, 404 monitoring, image compression, or structured data your theme doesn’t provide.
Can Shopify SEO apps cause duplicate schema?
Yes. Most themes already output Product schema, and review apps and SEO apps often add another block, which can show the same product twice with different prices or ratings. Keep one source of Product schema and check pages with Google’s Rich Results Test.
Do SEO apps slow down a Shopify store?
They can. Apps that inject scripts add requests to every page, while image compression apps usually reduce page weight. Test a product page in PageSpeed Insights before and after installing.
Are free Shopify SEO apps good enough?
For a small store, often yes. Avada, SearchPie, Smart SEO, TinyIMG, and SC Easy URL Redirects all have free plans that cover meta tags, basic image optimization, or bulk redirects.
How this list is maintained
I checked every app listing and price in this post in October 2026, using the Shopify App Store pages linked above. Ratings, review counts, and prices change often, so confirm on the listing before you install. I’ll update this list as apps change. My own tool (the Shopify Schema Kit) and services are included and labeled with a disclosure. No app paid for placement in this version.
